Clarence Ryan

Clarence was recently seen in the second series of WOLF CREEK for Stan and the second series of CLEVERMAN for the ABC and Sundance TV in the US. He also appeared in Ben Lucas’ OTHERLIFE which premiered at Sydney Film Festival. He will next be seen in THE WRONG KIND OF BLACK, an ABC iview short form/Indigenous narrative dramedy and Jordan Prince-Wright’s debut feature THE DECADENT AND DEPRAVED.

Clarence’s other television credits include THE SECRET RIVER and ANZAC GIRLS for the ABC, the Canadian/Australian sci-fi series STORMWORLD, DEAD GORGEOUS for Burberry Productions, the ABC/HBO co-production SERANGOON ROAD, ABC documentary YAGAN and the award winning children’s series LOCKIE LEONARD.

Clarence won Best Newcomer and was nominated for Best Actor at the Performing Arts Western Australia Awards for his performance in the Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company’s KING HIT.

In 2007, he starred opposite Mia Wasikowska in the inaugural Tropfest feature film, SEPTEMBER, directed by Peter Carstairs. Clarence’s performance as ‘Paddy’ in the film earned him an AFI Young Actor Award nomination.
He has also appeared in the short films, DIRT TIN, BLIGHT directed by Perun Bonser, BOURKE BOY directed by Adrian Wills, Mark Howett’s YOU’LL DO and Lily Rolfe’s THE TENDER DARK.


Clarence Ryan will be delivering the Keynote session at the ACAF Academic Conference on Friday, 9th February, and signing Cleverman comics and DVDs at the Gestalt Comics booth with Cleverman creator Ryan Griffen, as well as participating in the Cleverman panel discussion on ACAF Market Day Sunday, 11th February.
